I can't see a reason for it not to have subfloor, a loft, in my terminology is a floor that is breaking up a large volume of a room with cathedral ceiling.

Other places I visited had subfloor as well in the loft. The house was build around and may be it's normal but there are annoying things like the internal walls are built on-top of the chipboard flooring which potentially makes replacement awkward.
